The first thatched houses are more than 100 years old. They are in good condition.
In Spain, the demand for construction with straw is growing as a result of the need to face the great differences in outdoor temperatures and guarantee climatic comfort inside along with environmental and well-being value.
The straw houses comply with CTE standards, resistance to fire and seismic movements.

Straw construction is widespread in many countries around the world. In Europe there is the “European Straw Building Network” association, formed in 1998, and it meets every two years in different locations in Europe.

ISOLATION
- It is 6 times more insulating than any material required by Spanish construction regulations. 1 bale of straw = 28 cm of rock wool

- Absorbs more than 2kg of Co2 for every 1kg of local straw used
